The research goal of Biomass Composite Materials is to create new, green, low-carbon, functional, high-value biomass composites from biomass materials by physical or chemical processing, using a cross-disciplinary approach together with advanced technologies. This discipline is based on the theories and methods of physics, chemistry, polymer science, lignocellulose science, composite structure design, and material molding and control. Research is focused on functional wood-based materials, biomass fiber/polymer composites and nano-lignocellulose-based materials, as well as on the molding and processing of such biomass composites.
